Abstract

Front line demonstration is an appropriate means for demonstration as well as transfer of improved agricultural innovations to the farming community. Under centrally sponsored scheme on pulses production technology under NFSM scheme, KVK, Nagaur-II has conducted 75 front line demonstrations on mothbean crop in farmer’s field during kharif, 2018 to 2019 in an area of 30 ha with the objective to transfer the latest technologies among the farmers of Nagaur district. It was observed that on an average 29.23 percent higher grain yield was recorded in demonstration plots over local check. The extension gap, technology gap and technology index were 1.37q ha-1, 3.97 q ha-1and 39.65 percent, respectively. The same trend was found in case of net monetary returns and Benefit cost ratio, which was Rs. 15899 ha- 1and2.11 and for control Rs. 7752ha-1and 1.76, respectively. Obviously, this can be attributed to improved technology as well as improved varieties. The yield levels were considerably low under local practices because of considerable variations in the extent of adoption of recommended package of practices depending upon the amount of risk involved in terms of cost, convenience, skill and knowledge about the concerned practice.
