In vitro approach for plant regeneration and conservation ofsalvadora oleoides decne.:a potential medicinal plant
Main Article Content
Abstract
Salvadora oleoidesbelongs to family Salvadoraceae is commonly known as Pilu or Meetha jhal.Salvadora is an oil yielding, medicinal and multipurpose tree. This plant is native to India andPakistan. It is facultative halophyte found in dry and arid regions of India.Present investigation is an effort to establish Salvadora for micropropagation and subculturing.Nodal segments were used as explant.MS medium supplemented with combination of different phytohormons were used and it was examined for callus induction and direct regeneration. Both callus as well as direct regeneration were established from nodal explant.Combination of NAA(2.00mg/L)+BAP(1.00mg/L) were observed to be best suited medium for direct regenerationand combination of IAA (2.00 mg/L) and BAP(2.00mg/L)for callus induction. For rooting IBA (4.00mg/L) induced maximum result.
