Abstract

An investigation was carried out entitled analysis of genetic variability for some quantitative traits in mungbean [Vignaradiata (L.) Wilczek] by using 28 diverse genotypes viz., IPM 05-2-8, Pusa 109-32, IPM 05-2, MH 42, IM2K 14-5, MH 565, WGG 37, IPM 02-14, AKM 984, MH 3-18, NDM 1, AKM 9904, BDRY 2, MH 521, LOGG 912, HUM 12, COGG 912, Pusa 0891, BDRY 1, ML 1451, MH 318, IPM 02-03, Pusa 0672, RMG 90, IPM 02-19, Pant mung-5, Pant mung-2 and Pant mung-6 of mungbean. The observations on five randomly selected plants from each genotype with three replicationswere recorded for the thirteen economic important characters, indicating wide spectrum of variation among the genotypes.Analysis of variance revealed considerable differences among the genotypes for all the characters sdudied, suggested wide spectrum of variation among the genotypes. Phenotypic and genotypic coefficient of variation were observed high (more than 25%) for pods per plant, cluster per plant, harvest index and seed yield per plant and moderate (10-25%) was observed for plant height, branches per plant, pods per clusters, biological yield per plant, 100- seed weight and pod length and low (less than 10%) for seeds per pod, days to maturity and days to 50% flowering.
