Correlation and Path analysis in half-sib progenies derived from “Raj Bajra Chari-2” of pearl millet [Pennisettum glaucum (L.) R. Br.]
Main Article Content
Abstract
Correlation and path analysis were studied in 90 half-sib progenies and unselected bulk material generated from “Raj Bajra Chari-2” of fodder Bajra [Pennisetum glaucum (L.) R. Br.] in Randomized Block Design with three replications along with unselected bulk material during kharif 2011. Correlation analysis in the both half-sib and unselected bulk material, revealed that the green fodder yield per plant was significantly and positively associated with plant height, tillers per plant, leaves per plant. Interrelationship between characters which exhibited positive association with green fodder yield per plant has also exhibited positive association among themselves. Path coefficient analysis revealed that the character like plant height, leaf area were the important characters for the selection of half-sib progenies as they exerted positive and high direct effect as well as positive association with green fodder yield per plant, whereas, the leaves per plant was the important character for the selection of unselected bulk material as they exerted positive and high direct effect.
