Abstract

In this study, seven rice germplasms (Rupsal, Nagalmutha, Ravana, Marishal, Polai, Talmugra and Raspanjar) were used for screening of heat stress tolerance at PCR and gene expression level. In PCR, these germplasms were identified to be associated with RM6100 marker which is linked with a major quantitative trait locus for heat tolerance at flowering stage. In reverse transcriptase (RT)- PCR analysis at seedling stage, expression of DREB1A gene did not induce in these genotypes in response to heat stress. But, expression of OsDREB2A gene which is associated with induces of heat shock-responsive genes was found to be induced strongly in Marishal genotype and this genotype also is documented for possessing unique gene allele with RM6100 marker.
