An Economic Study on Production of Chilli in Jagner Block of Agra District

Abstract
Chilli (capscicum annuam L.) is most widely used and universal spice of India. The present study has been conducted in order to access the production of Green Chilli in Jagner block of Agra District of Uttar Pradesh, India. Total six villages and ninety farmers were selected by stratified random sampling as sample size. Data used were pertaining to the period 2018-19. The results indicated that the number of respondents who had Middle and intermediate school education were more in Medium size farms followed by Marginal, Small and Large. And it was also observed that the higher educated farmers were more in Medium size farms followed by marginal, small and large size of farms. Economic analysis of data indicated that Cost ‘C’ was found to Rs.75517.22, Rs. 81574.24, Rs.87440.89 and Rs. 93982.53 per hectare for marginal, small, medium and large farmers respectively. Net returns over cost ‘C’ was Rs.35938.11, Rs. 43066.97, Rs. 51628.15 and Rs. 59874.63 per hectare and input-output ratio at cost ‘C’ was 1:1.53, 1:1.61, 1.66 and 1:1.72 for marginal, small, medium and large farmers respectively.
